Political passion, like religious fervor, can be an overwhelming tide that sweeps aside rational thought and careful analysis burying truth under a sea of strident, unbridled rhetoric. It is unwise to blindly accept the rantings of those who shout the loudest without a thorough examination of motive and fact.
