Most Americans have never been face-to-face with heinous evil thus have no reference point from which to judge Islamic terrorists. We cannot comprehend cutting off the heads of children before their parents eyes or roasting a child and feeding it to the family or a brother killing his sister or mother because she somehow besmirched his honor. Our minds simply will not permit it and we will not believe it.

I Am Ashamed

Dear Senator ******,
I am so mad I could drink kerosene and pee napalm. The RNC did little if anything to support those with solid conservative values in the primaries and Republican incumbents did their best to ”out worst” the Democrats at dealing pork. I am ashamed of Republicans and the RNC.
Earmarks are killing this country. It has resulted in perennial politicians who guarantee their reelection with votes paid for by money stolen from the public purse. These feather merchants do little more than make noise and make citizens even more dependent on government. It has got to end.
I have heard the porkers squeal that earmarks are legal. That may be. Farting in church is legal too, but decent people don’t do it except in an emergency. Many in public office today are abusing the earmark privilege and few seem to care. I think the Senate and House rules need a change. No more phantom “riders” and no more earmarks. If a rider does not directly relate to the main bill, it needs to be stripped from the bill. If an item cannot stand up to public scrutiny and the drafter cannot successfully defend his reasoning for the money, then it is not a valid need. Likely it is not constitutional either. I have nothing but contempt for those who earmark themselves into another term, but cannot find enough money to take care of our veterans or properly fund the military that is taking the fight to the enemy to keep it off our soil. Putting Jeff Flake on the Appropriations Committee would stop some of the most egregious abuse as well as slow down the normal petty theft.
Politics seems a game much like football to the national committees. I do not consider governing America a game and the “gridiron” rah rah, yea team, deal with the devil to win attitude nauseates me. “He/she is a Republican, therefore, we have to stand behind them,” doesn’t cut it anymore. If a Republican votes relatively consistently with the opposition or votes with the opposition on key Republican issues, I think RNC funds should stop and that person be asked to change affiliations. It does us no good to continue to countenance disloyalty. Let the Democrats worry about how they are going to vote.
Since no conservatives appear on the ballot this year, I regret I must sit out the primary and the November elections. The quality isn’t there and I can’t hold my nose that tightly. I am sorry, but I consider the right to vote sacred and my vote worthy. I will not cast it for the unworthy. Perhaps Hillary will bring the silverware back when she returns to the White House in 2009. Maybe she can be kept from taking it home with her again in 2013 provided we can find a worthy statesman with bedrock, unchanging values and big enough hairy ones to have her locked up if she does. I am sick to death of let’s-get-along dreamers and wet-finger wimps.

The Mere Appearance of Wrongdoing.
1 August 2007
Dear Representative ********,
I could chew nails and spit rust! Does the Justice Department, thus the FBI, work for and answer to the President and the administration or not? I am so sick of Democrats getting passes or wrist slaps for criminal activity and rubbing the nation’s nose in it that I could just crap and fall back in it.
Please be so kind as to tell me why the names Reid, Feinstein and Pelosi are not on the list of those being investigated? Are they above investigation? Is their power or position such that they have immunity from the law?
It appears Reid has been involved in similar land deals for which one Republican is now serving time. Harry Reid has not been forthcoming with convincing or adequate explanations regarding that issue in my opinion. As Teddy Kennedy says, the mere appearance of wrongdoing MUST be investigated.
It is a no brainer that Feinstein should be investigated for malfeasance in regards to her MilCon shenanigans packing public funds into her husband's companies. The stink from that episode is so odious that it rips the hair from my nostrils. Exactly, Congressman, when will the investigation into Feinstein by the Justice Department begin? Certainly, the mere appearance of wrongdoing MUST be investigated.
Pelosi publicly violated the Logan Act…publicly on national TV. There is no question of guilt! Why does she not have chaffed wrists and a cute orange jumpsuit? She not only broke a serious law, she did it to embarrass this nation and its elected administration, the duty of which is to make foreign policy. Pelosi was not empowered to make any promises or discuss American issues with a foreign despot. When can Americans expect to see Congress strip her of the office she abused and refuse to seat her? When will this happen? Again, the mere appearance of wrongdoing MUST be investigated.
What the plue perfect hell is going on in Washington? Why are these people not indicted or at least being investigated? Is justice blind or is “justice” merely a Democrat attack dog used to shred the reputations of innocent Republicans? Why in the hell was Scooter Libby indicted for saying something about a NON CRIME and Fitzgerald is not in jail for abusing his office since he knew there was never any crime to begin with? He wasted public funds knowing there was no crime. That is malfeasance in office at best and fraud at worst and both ARE a crime. The mere appearance of wrongdoing MUST be investigated.
The Pledge of Allegiance does not say, "One nation, under God, with a get out of jail free card for Democrats and constant investigation for whichever Republicans Democrats choose to screw next."
Do you really think the American people are going to tolerate this much longer? The Republican Party is down on campaign funds and donations are down to a trickle already. No one thinks the Republicans have any backbone. If the Republican Party wants to get donations, win the Presidency and make gains in the House and Senate then they must grow some testicles and make justice a two-way street. Republicans don’t have any credibility while the Democrats are taking a daily whiz on their shoes.
I await your answer most anxiously.

Concealed Carry License
1 October, 2006
Dear President Bush,
I have noticed that some states do not recognize an Alabama Concealed Carry License for one main reason, that being a national agency check for criminal history is not done by Alabama. I cannot fathom why this is not done in Alabama. It seems prudent. Additionally, some states like South Carolina do not allow persons under the age of 21 to carry concealed weapons. I am not sure people under that age should be carrying concealed weapons. I think a special permit for those Alabamians who really need a concealed carry permit under the age of 21 years old could be handled with a special permit of some sort.
I know the foregoing is not specifically your problem, but it demonstrates one of mine you have in your power to remedy. I spent much of my Navy service outside of the US and I travel around this country a lot since I retired from the Navy, but I do not like being a potential victim while I travel with my family. I devoted 30 years of my life to defending this country and it is a painful and insulting slap in the face that I cannot defend myself in every state. That should not be. I did not sacrifice for only the states that permit me to carry a concealed weapon and honor Alabama's CCW license. I sacrificed for all 50 states and the territories. The Second Amendment does not recognize any state authority to infringe upon it, but many do and they do not all have the same rules.
Retired military people held high positions of trust and responsibility for many years in service to this country yet this nation does not grant them very basic Second Amendment rights on a national level. I cannot fathom the reasoning. When we were young, we perhaps had an opportunity to physically fight off an attacker. Now that we are older, that option has diminished and continues to diminish every day while our vulnerability increases as older people are considered easy pickings. It is not in our mental make up to run from trouble, nor could we now because of physical limitations. Military veterans, above all others, should be able to defend themselves and their families anywhere in America. By our blood and tears, we have earned that right. Many in the House and Senate have been designated "Federal Marshals" to permit the carry of a concealed weapon for protection. Is the service of a politician, safe at home, more deserving than that of the veteran who dodged the bullets or bled and cried for fallen comrades on foreign soil? Nor are we provided the luxury of trained body guards who would gladly give their lives for us as we would have for our country.
I carry a pistol in my RV for personal protection, but I cannot enter the Redstone Arsenal at Huntsville to go to the commissary. What do veterans who carry weapons in their vehicles and travel to other states where their weapons license is recognized do if they need to go on base for some reason, including medical? Bases do not "hold" weapons for you while you are on base for maybe an hour or two to shop or fill up with gas. Honest people are forced to lie since there is no place they can store a pistol to comply with base regulations. I checked with the Huntsville Police. They would not. This is grossly unfair and wrong and lying went out of vogue with the previous administration.
President Bush, will you propose a national concealed weapon carry law for military veterans and include in that right military bases as that is where campgrounds, commissaries and exchanges are located or make it so with the stroke of your pen? Fingerprints and National Agency Checks are readily available for military veterans so this is not a problem. We have also trained with firearms. I dare day that a 60 year-old veteran is as safe and trustworthy with a loaded pistol in his vehicle or on his person as the 19 year-old gate guard with a loaded M-16.
Enacting such legislation is cheap, but would likely sit well with retired military families and they would make their approval known at the ballot box. Remember, every military veteran killed by some crack-head thug is a Republican vote needlessly lost forever and dead Republicans often vote Democrat.
Thank you.

Thank you.
